About us

THTbypost is provided by DrThom on behalf of Terrence Higgins Trust.
Who are the doctors behind this service?
DrThom is staffed by a number of NHS doctors and nurses who specialise in sexual health.

DrThom was founded by Dr Thomas Van Every, a doctor who works at London's Victoria Clinic. The Victoria Clinic is part of London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. DrThom's Clinical Director is Dr Nneka Nwokolo. Dr Nneka Nwokolo is a consultant in sexual health and HIV at The Victoria Clinic.

To comply with UK best-practice and General Medical Council requirements, we'll always tell you the name of the doctor who has taken responsibility for your care.
What are the aims of this service?
DrThom aims to increase patient choice by providing a well-regulated remote medical service that enables people to choose to self-manage their health at home. DrThom offers the same standard of specialist clinical care that patients would get in a traditional 'bricks and mortar' clinic. DrThom thinks that remote medical services are a fantastic way of managing some patients with some conditions but that in an ideal world, all patients would see their doctor face to face.
Who regulates this service?
First and foremost, DrThom is regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission. DrThom was the first online medical service to register with the Care Quality Commission. The Care Quality Commission regulates DrThom to ensure that all DrThom services meet the same high standard of care that would be required of a traditional 'bricks and mortar' sexual health clinic. The Care Quality Commission can be contacted at:

DrThom is also regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority (MHRA), particularly with regard to how these online services are marketed and promoted.

DrThom's doctors also have to comply with General Medical Council guidelines on good clinical practice and good prescribing.
