Gonorrhoea treatment by post - 7 days course - £64.50

This postal treatment service is only for people who already know that they need treatment for gonorrhoea. The service provides a convenient way to get the gonorrhoea treatment you need.

How long does it take for the gonorrhoea treatment to arrive?
If it's safe to do so, our doctors will generally prescribe gonorrhoea treatment for you the next working day and dispatch it to you as first class recorded delivery. You'll need to sign for the gonorrhoea treatment upon delivery.
Will I receive one or two antibiotics?
You'll receive two types of antibiotics because it's clinical best practice in the UK to treat a patient for a possible chlamydia infection at the same time as treating the gonorrhoea.
Is this gonorrhoea treatment effective?
There is known resistance to gonorrhoea treatment so it's absolutely essential that once you've finished the treatment, you have a 'test of cure' to make certain that the treatment worked. You need to wait six weeks after you finished the treatment before having a 'test of cure', otherwise the test may pick up residual signs of the original infection.
What other gonorrhoea treatment options are there?
Gonorrhoea won't go away unless you treat it, even if you have no gonorrhoea symptoms. When our doctors prescribe treatment for gonorrhoea, we'll also send you treatment for chlamydia that needs to be taken over seven days. Instead of taking your chlamydia treatment over seven days, you could take a different chlamydia treatment as a single one-off dose. Both chlamydia treatment options are as effective as each other.
What are the potential side effects of this gonorrhoea treatment?
So that you can make an informed decision to request this service, you need to know that about the possible side effects. Like any medication, the antibiotics used to treat gonorrhoea and chlamydia can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or an allergic rash. In addition this treatment can (but rarely) cause liver damage or blood clotting disorders. For a full list of some of the rarer side effects please consult the leaflet accompanying the medication.
Who should not take this gonorrhoea treatment?
You should not take this treatment if you know you are allergic to cefixime or doxycycline. This treatment should also not be taken by pregnant or breast-feeding women, or those with liver or kidney disease.
Sex after treatment
You must refrain from having unprotected (no condom) sex for at least six weeks after you have completed this course of gonorrhoea treatment.
